Here`s a toughie for a mixed group of male and female , junior and seniors of good ability.
This session can be done on a track or a marked out section of a field. Carry out a 10 minute warm up jog as a group(so you can get the chatting over with!) then carry out some basic drills high knees etc. Then incorporate some speed into the warm up so everybody is ready for quick interval session.
Here`s the session : 20 x 200 (or 40 seconds) with the first 10 efforts having 45sec recovery and the last 10 with 40 seconds recovery. The pace should set at about 80% of their flat out pace.
Did this session last week on the track and had to split the group in two and shouted times and splits from the in field.Strangley enough they all fully enjoyed the session because when i asked how they all were no one could reply!!
Lofty.
Had quite a few customers in yesterday for cross-country spikes, so it is definitely that time of year! We have the new models from Nike, New Balance, Puma and Saucony which are all proving popular. Soon as I get running again, I'll be taking a pair of the Puma Haraka (just don't tell Lofty)!
Just had delivery of the mens Nike lighweight running gloves in grey and blue, looks really smart and will help keep the chill off!
Still no training, trying an anti-inflammatory cream to try and get the tendonitis down. Will keep you posted...
Welcome to the first Gloucester Sports blog! I'm hoping to be able to give you regular updates on what we are doing as a shop, future plans, new stock arriving and a little bit about what I'm doing in training. Please feel free to post comments or suggestions to let us know what you would like to see in-store?
The womens Nike Lunarglide 2 has just arrived as I'm writing this, looks great so will put this on the website asap!
On the running front, afraid to say that I'm struggling with patella tendonitis at the moment. It seems to have flared up from doing a little too much running and biking on holiday 2 weeks ago. Gutted as I was looking forward to the first Birmingham League XC of the season this Saturday for my club, Gloucester AC. I've been going well in training so was hoping for a strong run, but will have to wait. As soon as my training starts up again, I'll keep you posted on what sort of mileage etc I am doing. Bye for now
