Soft, lightweight, and simple are just some of the adjectives used to describe the new HOKA ONE ONE Rincon. Inspired by smooth waves of the world-famous Rincon surf spot, runners will find this cushioned shoe to be a versatile training option with fantastic value. Built with an emphasis on an amazing weight to cushioning ratio, the Rincon delivers a no-nonsense design with a unique feel. Whether you're seeking ultra lightweight protection for your longer miles or want something a little more cushioned on race day, the Rincon is built to create a fantastic ride with plenty of performance.
In order to create a soft, cushioned experience, the Rincon utilizes HOKA's signature compression EVA midsole. The preliminary stack height comes in at 31mm (heel) - 26mm (forefoot) and should deliver a large amount of protection for your longer road miles. The Rincon also features an early-stage Meta-Rocker to help create a smooth, quick transition.
On the outsole, the Rincon features an exposed midsole design with rubber sections strategically placed in the forefoot and heel. This exposed design provides the durability and traction to handle longer miles while also offering a much lighter design than a full-length blown rubber outsole. HOKA has also implemented a new flex groove system in the forefoot for a little bit of flex and a cored-out heel to further reduce weight.
The Rincon's smooth and speedy ride is what will drive most people to the shoe, but the upper is the gamechanger that will seal the deal. The thin, breathable mesh is nearly seamless and offers an extremely streamlined design. Fit was also a major concern and the adaptable mesh should help fit a variety of foot types while still delivering a snug lockdown. The tongue is no longer paper thin, and the material is more in line with what you'd expect from a performance running shoe in 2019.
